Shotgun Training Courses

Shotgun Level 1 – Beginner

Foundations & Safety

Shotgun Level 1 is designed for new or returning shooters looking to build a solid, safe foundation with the shotgun platform. This instructor-led course emphasizes safety, confidence, and fundamental shooting skills.

Course Focus:

  • Shotgun safety rules and safe handling
  • Shotgun types, ammunition, and operation
  • Proper stance, mounting, recoil management
  • Loading and unloading procedures
  • Basic marksmanship and target engagement

***Round Count: 50 Shells***

Gear Required:

  • Shotgun (pump or semi-auto)
  • Eye & ear protection
  • Ammunition
  • Range-appropriate clothing

Level 1 Shotgun Training

Three hours classroom at Idaho Guns & Outdoors Athol, and two hours live fire at Farragut Shooting Range. $20 non refundable deposit required to hold your spot. Limited to 10 students. 

Shotgun Level 2 – Intermediate

Manipulation & Movement

Shotgun Level 2 builds upon Level 1 fundamentals and introduces more efficient manipulation, movement, and problem-solving skills. Shooters will begin working under time and positional constraints.

Course Focus:

  • Emergency and tactical reloads
  • Malfunction recognition and clearing
  • Shooting while moving
  • Multiple target engagement
  • Improved speed and recoil control

Round Count: 50-75 shells

  • Eye & ear protection
  • Ammunition
  • Shotgun sling recommended

Prerequisite: Shotgun Level 1 or equivalent experience

Shotgun Level 3 – Advanced

Performance & Real-World Application

Shotgun Level 3 is an advanced performance-based course designed for experienced shooters. This class emphasizes efficiency, stress management, and real-world application through challenging drills and scenarios.

Course Focus:

  • Advanced manipulation under stress
  • Use of cover and positional shooting
  • Timed performance standards
  • Decision-making and target discrimination
  • Scenario-based shotgun application

Round Count: 75 shells

Prerequisite: Shotgun Level 2 or instructor approval
